JF660R Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Anyone spotted a smoking deal on deep cycle AGMs? My trolling motor batteries are about shot after 3 years or so...time to upgrade. Checking around for sales before I just go BPS on the next triple points night. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nocturnal-FabWorx/346443168872812 Like Nocturnal FabWorx on Facebook
GNSfishing Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Check Sam's they have one of the best AGM batteries out there at a reasonable price and a great buy when they are on sale. I have tried Pro Guide AGM and I just did not have good luck with them lasting much over 1 year. They cost too much for only 1 year of service..
GNSfishing Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Oh I got a notice that the outdoors rewards card at BPS is changing to a pure rewards card only and that the BPS points are going away..
JF660R Posted September 12, 2018 Author Posted September 12, 2018 I'm definitely looking at the Duracell Sam's batteries. Some not so great reviews though. 18 month warranty though... Also, looks like they're made by East Penn, who makes Deka. I've almost sold myself already. terryj1024 1 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nocturnal-FabWorx/346443168872812 Like Nocturnal FabWorx on Facebook
bluebasser86 Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 I have 2 of the group 31 Duracell AGMs in my boat for my trolling motor and really like them. I can fight the wind all day and not notice any loss of power. Only thing I can't speak on is longevity. I've had them about a year now though and they've been perfect.
nomolites Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 I ran those for 3 years and they were flawless; plenty of juice for my Ulterra with zero instances of them running down. I did start to see a loss of capacity in the fourth year and swapped them out. They are a good deal for the price to be sure. Mike
Dutch Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 I've only used Optima. The ones in my old boat were over 4 years old when I traded it off and were doing fine. The ones in my current boat are into year 3 and showing no signs of weakening.

In my 2014 AlWeld I have 1,000 plus charges on their AGM's and they are just as good as if they were installed yesterday. On any marine battery if you are just using your 10 amp boat charger you have to at least every dozen charges give it a boost with a 50 amp charger. Takes about 20 minutes and they are back to new. On extended periods of down time boost the battery with the 50 amps and unhook the positive terminal of your battery so you don't have a slow trickle discharge. I run boats for a living and have nothing but the best luck with the Pro Guides. Would not think about changing. 96 CHAMP, dan hufferd, kdc and 2 others 4 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
96 CHAMP Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 I went and spent the money on proguides also and am very pleased with them, Champ188 1
