Thanks for putting the size in perspective.  We fish big hill on occasion...it’s a big lake. I thought it would be closer to bone creek size.  I of course hope they build it.

i don’t really care what side of the river they build it...the east side looks like it has better creeks...and would probably have better scenery.  I’ve fished the ponds and creek there on spicers land where they’re planning to build the dam on west side...Steve was a pretty good guy back in the nineties...little crazy but so was I

I think they ought to make it like lake Eucha in oklahoma south of Grand. The city of Tulsa uses it for their water supply. They Charge like $5 a day or have a season pass for $27 and don't allow swimming in the lake. I feel like that could be a good compromise.

Why would that be good? The corp made them agree to recreational use prior to granting permits, didn't they? So, they use Fed money to build the thing and then charge boaters & prohibit swimming to get more money would be good for whom?

I didn't know they made them agree to recreational use prior to granting permits. if that's the case than yeah it's crap. But i was just thinking for fishing. it would be better than nothing at all and wasting a nice 1500 acre lake.

I did not see the agreement, but was told that it was a COE requirement. If it wasn't they shouldn't get federal funding or have eminent domain, nothing that boating or swimming puts in the water will have much effect on the treatment needs, there will still be runoff from farms and roads in that drainage. I do know of one city that bought an entire drainage area, no farms, roads, or houses left in the drainage,  and fenced it against all use.

The ability to provide a clean, viable and sufficiently large source of drinking water is, I assume, the primary concern.  While I agree that providing recreational opportunities wouldn't affect that I don't know that it is required.
