Anyone have a fishing kayak for sale fairly cheap. Preferably SOT. Never done it before but am wanting to try a kayak. Don’t want to spend a lot in case it isn’t as enjoyable as I hope it is.

Academy Sports has many good ones that are affordable.  Get a 12' one at least.  If you are a big guy, maybe longer.

I’m about 5’8”-5’9”. 150 pounds. I was looking at 10ft bc of the streams I plan to go I usually wade. Smaller rivers and creeks mostly. Any pros and cons between the 2. I was just seeing what’s out there before buying new.

10' should work.  I would go with a sit on top.  Easier to get out and wade or drop a leg over and hold a foot on something to anchor.  Sit on top gets you up higher to cast and see the fish.

I have two of these, one for me and the grandson.  We are about the same build.  Paddle great, stable, and can carry enough for a day on any stream or lake.  Light weight and easy to portage or lift onto racks on a SUV.

10’ is rather short. A 12’ will track & float shallower. Do get one with the comfy detachable lawn chair. Jackson makes some great boats, but they go fast on the used market. Lots of good SOT’s too choose from. You will probably like it so don’t go cheap.

Were are you located?  I see them on Craigslist pretty often here in the St Louis area.  I don't know the difference in them though other sit in or sit on.

Seems I hear a lot of guys wanting to trade a 10 for a 12. You'll be much happier with a 12. It's not too big for any river you are going to be on and you will appreciate the extra space. And I would recommend one that get's your butt up out of the water.
