I have 2 Idaho rainbow under my belt, but never caught a cutty when I was out there for my 1 half day off fishing I got to do...

Might possibly get another trip to job site out there again this year and hopefully I can take a few personal days an dedicate them to this.

Thanks for sharing.

I can tell you from personal experience that those South Fork of the Snake River trout where it comes out of Palisades Dam will hammer a Zig Jig. Me and  a buddy fished all three sections of on 3 different days about 15 years ago. It was great fishing and all we threw were jigs. The biggest fish we caught was a 24” Snake River Cuttie. They were trying to get the rainbows out even back then.

Beautiful area out there in the Swan Valley!!!

Catch a non native and whack it's head off!

Save a native cutthroat. I like the sound of that. Out of all our trips West never fished in Idaho but drove through it on a couple occasions. The rolling hills and potato fields are pretty neat to see.

Would be a great destination for a Jigfest, except for the long drive.

Only if it was catch and keep rainbow feast 😁. Smokers need to be used to process those rainbows to get everyone to eat those fish. I'll eat stocker or nonnative rainbows.

We could convince MDC to loan us one of those hatchery trout tanker trucks, drive it up to Idaho, fill it full of wild rainbows and stop by Taney on the way home and dump them in the river.   Or deliver them to a hatchery to use as brood stock as those fish sound like they are very prolific and could be an upgrade to their hatchery brood stock.

Might win some money in the rainbow bounty hunt.
