Starting fresh this morning...

I think the problem is somewhere in this birds nest but when I get under there to check it....I can’t get anything to light up

but I know the test light works...I checked it on a battery

Shouldn’t I be able to prick the wires before the splice and get them to light up?

the tail light is the brown light at top...and it’s spliced twice...Looks like that is where it was spliced to get the power to the trailer lights.

Going to check it for power before the splice...

the boat blinkers don’t work when plugged in...already checked

thanks

Jumped a wire to the brown wire...had the tail lights and license plate lights working...had power to trailer light plug...

hooked boat plug to truck plug...heard a slight sizzle

now back to no tail lights on either side....

what do you think? Besides the obvious...that I’m a bonehead

I Think you’re right on the trailer problem...but I’m worried about the truck...now both tail lights are out...I cut the cheater wire out and hooked it back to itself...just to see if other side would come on...but it didn’t

going to take it to a shop in am I guess

i tell ya...it’s always something

Sizzle is not good, sounds like a short.  Did you check to see if there is water in the trailer light containers?  Sometimes the seal goes bad and water gets in there and causes problems.

What Quillback says and I might add,

Wiley can you see all the wires going down your trailer and where they split to each side or do they go down the enclosed frame? I was blowing fuses on the truck. Couldn't figure it out at all. Finally disconnected at lights. Put strings to be able to pull back. In my main harness mice had got into the tongue near the front of trailer and had been munching on the plastic coated wire causing a bare spot touching and grounding out.

Really look hard at your fuses Kendall on truck. Sometimes blown ones are hard to see. Like someone had already said depending on the year of your truck. There are fuses under the hood and on my truck on the left part of the dashboard facing the door.
