fishinwrench Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 You've kinda lost me but it sounds like a brown wire on the trailer harness is shorted to ground. When damaged wires aren't obvious and easy to find I just replace the whole trailer light harness. It's only 14.00 and once replaced you shouldn't have to worry about it again for another 7 years. When you plugged it in and it sizzled, it likely blew the tail light fuse on the truck. BilletHead 1

wily Posted March 24, 2019 Author Posted March 24, 2019 I’m pretty sure I found the fuses...replaced em...and got the passenger side to come back on...now I wish I hadn’t cut the jumper im done for the night...thanks BilletHead 1
wily Posted March 25, 2019 Author Posted March 25, 2019 Just as an update... a guy at work...found a fuse I missed and made the ground better on the truck...everything works on the truck as of now...not plugging anything into it until I replace the wires on the trailer...thanks for the help liphunter, dtrs5kprs, Deadstream and 5 others 8
dtrs5kprs Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 Turned into an excellent thread. Just rewired a tin boat trailer a few weeks ago. Spent a lot of time showing the boy how to avoid some of those problems when running the wires. Good times.
