Good grief Vernon, are you coming back so soon? Our beautiful lake can't handle another 6 inches of rain. I would really love to fish with you sometime (preferably when it's not raining).

Boy, now you really ARE looking for trouble!

Being out in a boat with me can be Ten Commandments type stuff!

If Kathy decides to skip a day I'll let you know!

The last two weekends have been stay off the lake weekends for me. Between bad weather and moving I may not be able to seriously fish until July - and then it will be on a different, and inferior, lake.

I would have preferred a weather friendly Spring for my last season here.

I am trying not to let this fact affect my attitude. Probably not as well as I should.

The new location will be Skiatook Lake in Oklahoma. My pb Table Rock walleye was almost 6 pounds over the lake record. My second best was almost 4 pounds more. My pb Table Rock bass would be the second best for the lake records.

The good news is that the lake is a clear water lake with rocky, steep sides  (highland reservoir type). This means many of the techniques Table Rock forced me to learn will apply.

I am hopeful what I have learned here will help me do well there.

Gosh, I didn't realize that you were leaving the area.  That's gonna leave a considerable hole in the forum as I, too, have always looked forward to reading your posts and feeling as though I was kinda sharing some of your lake life and fishing experiences.

As Gomer Pyle so eloquently stated, "All the best to you and yours."

Best of luck.....

I re-read my post and realized it sounded very maudlin. Sorry about that.

As for leaving the forum, I won't be doing that. Instead, my reports praising wake boats and describing the human condition at the lake (drunk) will merely come from a different body of water. I am hopeful that being able to fish during the week will allow me to avoid most of the problems and permit me to catch a few good fish.

Besides, where else could I post food pictures?

I didn't take it that way at all.

However, "maudlin" is a very good word that I hadn't heard in quite some time!

Besides, you don't strike me as the kind of guy that has a mawkish bone in his body.

Sorry, the best I could do on short notice.....

Put me in Coach! I'm also willing to invite you or the both of you to fish the James out of my boat. Just as long as your expectations are not too high. We have very few SM and not many spots or LM. I can show you a ton of gar if you're interested! I now understand why Bill Beck (rest his soul) never fished the James until mid June.

I did a little research on Skiatook Lake (curious to see what could lure you away) and it looks like a beautiful body of water. I would have never expected to see such clean water and no private docks in that part of OK. Looking forward to your reports from that area. With all the clear water, I can only imagine the topwater bite!
