Gee thanks for making me log right in and buy another one!

Lol you bet! It’s a heck of a deal. If the reel cost that much it would still be worth it.

Templefork makes some great rods for 100$  I also like Falcon.. they have been great to stand behind the rods.

I love my Tatula... but also like my lews reels as well.  Some of the bass pro reels are good.. the white ones /carbonlite are not as good as the cheaper... pro qualifer.. I got some of those for about 70$ and they work very good.

It's a deal for sure, but that SLX combo in any size for $125 to your door is nuts.

I use a left handed reel so that limits my options. Most of the left ones were sold out when I looked. Reel was gonna have to be a 8:3:1 and I'm not sure if I want to jump to that from my 6:4:1 for walking baits or not.

I have that speed on a jig rod and love it but I get what you mean.

I just received a St Croix Legend Bass designed for topwater.  It's a LBC68MXF.  I have quite a few of their rods and they've never disappointed me for what I've used them for.  Pair it up with a Lew's reel and you'll love it.

The lews BB1 will flat launch a spook.

I prefer the BB1 to the BB1 pro, personally I don’t adjust centrifugal brakes very often, and I’m ok with opening the side plate to set the reel up.

My favorite spook rod is an older Loomis IMX MBR-782, which is a 6’6” rod, but the falcon cara AOY 6’8” is a close second. I don’t like 7’ rods for top water or jerkbaits, but I’m 5’10”, so you may be happier with the longer rod. I’ve also heard good things about the St. Croix 6’8” top water rod mentioned above, but have never tried one.

Hmmm that is a bummer. 8:3.1 would be fine for topwater but it definitely narrows the reels overall usefulness. 7:1 is the best all around to me
