5/17 Report

Did some more trolling for crappie on Friday in the mid-lake region. Mainly used #7 Flicker Shads and targeted spawning coves. The fish were a lot more scattered than a week ago with some coves producing and some not. We caught them anywhere from 12-25 feet down in 15-40 fow. Ended the day with a double limit but had to work for them.

Tried for walleye on a few main lake points and caught two just under 15" on bouncers. Honestly didn't spend much time out there due to the wind.

Nice! I tried the same thing on Thursday with very limited luck and talked to a few folks that were pretty bummed out with the bite.

I imagine the points were rock and roll city the way Friday's winds were blowing.

Yeah she was rolling Old Dog. Trolling motor prop came out of the water several times.

Olfishead, the trolling bite should keep up for awhile 12-20 feet down. Keep after it!

Went tonight, caught a half limit of nice 11-13" crappie. Two short walleyes, a few whites, and a largemouth.

The flicker shad pro series, and jointed in slick firetiger have been working the best for me, although regular firetiger was working as well.

Thanks all for the reports. I am sitting at my desk at work chomping at the bit! We hope to be on the water by 9 tomorrow morning. Weather forecast looks iffy for fishing tomorrow afternoon but Wednesday and Thursday look good at this point!

I haven't pulled the trigger on any of the jointed flickershads yet.

So, you're saying you're seeing an improved bite recently or longer using them over the standard solid bodies? 

I'd appreciate hearing what your observations have been.

(Ouch! I think I feel a pain coming in my back pocket again!) 😉

I have only used them one afternoon, so I cannot say if they work any better than solids. Only that they do indeed catch fish.

I will say that the Pro series with holographic slick patterns have been working better.
