Missouri rules prohibit rubber and vinyl in flies.

In answer to my query on this subject, all rubber legs, antennae, etc are illegal as the  OP relayed. I am flabbergasted, surprised, astonished and taken aback that so many of us can't read.

I don't care enough to waste my time doing that. Next time somebody from the MDC asks to see my fly I guess I'll just have to pay the fine. I don't think I will be out any money. Ever.

If I buy a silicone legged 'hopper at the Park Store as a "fly" shouldn't they pay the fine and lose their permits? This means I can't use my Calcasieu Pig Boats at RRSP. It sucks, that's what.

Silicone rubber is not soft plastic. Rubber is not plastic two different polymers.

Okay...this is really getting stupid.  Per MDC's own definition in the rule book, all those materials are legal, yet somebody there says that per the protection staff they are NOT legal???  First of all, that's simply ridiculous, because such synthetic materials are used in a huge percentage of flies and are accepted just about everywhere.  Second, it sounds to me like whoever answered the question probably knows little about flies or fly fishing, and may have just made up that "current interpretation" thing, or possibly asked somebody who also didn't know a thing about flies or fly fishing.  I'm usually a big defender of MDC but on this subject they really need to get their act together.

No, seriously.  Just because you're an outdoorsman and they do stuff that benefits outdoorsmen?   I get that..... but at what cost?  Good Lord!   Is it not like turning a blind eye to the kid that stole your car because he also swings by and shovels the snow off your sidewalk occasionally ?  

A 30k car didn't get replaced for a few 10.00 shovel jobs.
