I know a few that would have. Bill laker67 1

tjm Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 In answer to my query on this subject, all rubber legs, antennae, etc are illegal as the OP relayed. I am flabbergasted, surprised, astonished and taken aback that so many of us can't read. From Michael J. Mitchell., Fisheries Administrative Manager, Missouri Department of Conservation Quote Answer: The current interpretation by  MDC protection staff is that flies constructed of materials that snap back from stretching and are soft and pliable are considered soft plastic bait. Since the fly definition does not allow for soft plastic bait to be used in a fly, flies constructed of such materials are illegal to use in fly only areas. Â
tjm Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Somebody make me a list of all the flies that have elastic material used in their construction?

I don't care enough to waste my time doing that. Next time somebody from the MDC asks to see my fly I guess I'll just have to pay the fine. I don't think I will be out any money. Ever.  Â
tjm Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 If I buy a silicone legged 'hopper at the Park Store as a "fly" shouldn't they pay the fine and lose their permits? This means I can't use my Calcasieu Pig Boats at RRSP. It sucks, that's what.

Al Agnew Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Okay...this is really getting stupid. Per MDC's own definition in the rule book, all those materials are legal, yet somebody there says that per the protection staff they are NOT legal??? First of all, that's simply ridiculous, because such synthetic materials are used in a huge percentage of flies and are accepted just about everywhere. Second, it sounds to me like whoever answered the question probably knows little about flies or fly fishing, and may have just made up that "current interpretation" thing, or possibly asked somebody who also didn't know a thing about flies or fly fishing. I'm usually a big defender of MDC but on this subject they really need to get their act together. tjm and bkbying89 2
tjm Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019  Fisheries Administrative Manager He had the query long enough to ask a lot of people and he cc the reply to "Andrew Branson"

No, seriously. Just because you're an outdoorsman and they do stuff that benefits outdoorsmen?  I get that..... but at what cost? Good Lord!  Is it not like turning a blind eye to the kid that stole your car because he also swings by and shovels the snow off your sidewalk occasionally ?  A 30k car didn't get replaced for a few 10.00 shovel jobs. "They are so much better than other states" so they say. Yeah you get a hand up and a kiss on the cheek after the brutal anal rape, instead of just left to crawl home. 🤣 So by all means let's sing praise at every opportunity.
