We set 30 bank poles and one vertical trotline last weekend not far downstream from the I-70 bridge west of Columbia.

Caught one 12lb. blue (pre-spawn female) and a 4lb flathead.

Water conditions aren't the best for setlines right now.  Every time a towboat pushes through the wakes pull a mountain of deadwood into the water.

Something big hung on the trotline and destroyed it.

Water levels had finally dropped below flood stage, but weekend rains caused a 1.5ft rise.

It's likely to be November before the wing dams above water again.

And some dirty little thief helped himself to three of my 12ft bank poles.

That sucks! As SIO3 mentioned someone walked off one of my fishing rods while I was fishing two weekends ago.

We ran the same drill Saturday.  No thievery of gear this time.  Talked to a guy who lives in Lupus - said couple weeks ago they got after some guys who came from upriver and were caught running other people's lines - chased em past Rocheport and haven't seen em since.  Anyway, water is still high, mountains of flotsam still in the eddy swirls and on bank.  Five flathead and one blue for our efforts.  Two 15s and the rest 5s.  yumyum fish fry.
