Members BassPastor Posted October 8, 2019 Members Posted October 8, 2019 Was waiting for @MO Huzgr to update on our trip this weekend but got tired of waiting. Hate a great few days of fishing the dam area points on my first trip to Stockton. Primarily targeting Walleye but more than happy to catch bass along the way, or whatever else wanted to bite. Didn't take long to become impressed with the quality of the fishery in both size and numbers. Over the few days of fishing we caught, largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, sunfish, catfish, white bass, and drum in abundance. Had success with a variety of lures/techniques but focused primarily on jig/crawler, Flicker Shad, Bomber 200, and a 3.8 Keitech on 1/4 oz white head. Great times and look forward to returning when possible! Also found interest in hunting the area, seems like a great spot to find unpressured public land. Anybody ever try? AR Huzgr Posted October 8, 2019 Posted October 8, 2019 Don't forget the best part that you experienced/ helped your 86 year old Grandpa catch his personal best walleye. Had a great trip. Stayed at cabins on Stockton lake which met our needs very well. BassPastor, BilletHead, Daryk Campbell Sr and 2 others 5

3DHUSKER Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Public hunting grounds with no pressure? They get plenty of pressure. What kind of hunting around there are you wanting to do? Give me a PM and I will answer your questions if you have some. I hunt for several things around the lake. I just bought a boat after not having one for 18 years. Hope to get my first trip back to Stockton fishing soon. (Been in Milwaukee on business for 17 days.)

I live in the KC area where your likely to see more hunters than deer on any public ground within an hour. I imagine you could bow hunt around the lake and get access to some good habitat diversity, particularly if you use the boat for access.
Mhyde Posted October 9, 2019 Posted October 9, 2019 Corps land around the lake gets PLENTY of pressure, unfortunately. That's not to say if you put in the time and do your homework you still couldn't have some nice hunting trips around the area, because you most certainly can. Good luck! BassPastor 1
