ColdWaterFshr Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Yeah, what do these tags look like? I've seen plenty of fishermen clean their fish right where they caught them and not bother with going to a cleaning station. snagged in outlet 3 1
Members jfrith Posted November 4, 2019 Author Members Posted November 4, 2019 Or if it’s an external tag they could just rip it off right where they gigged it and throw it in the water? snagged in outlet 3 1
Gavin Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 And some little gizmo can drift in the current until it comes to rest in slow water. She cant draw any conclusion IMO...Giggers, will clean on site for the fish fry. I kill and and bleed most fish immediately if I decide to keep them...Gutted and cleaned within an hour mostly. snagged in outlet 3 1
fishinwrench Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 I'm gonna assume that the fish they tagged were ones of above average stocker size. I would find it odd that a large percentage of THAT SIZE fish were "caught and eaten by critters". I'd also find it odd that fish of that size were caught and eaten by anglers. What I wouldn't find odd is that they got gigged. What I also don't find odd is MDC ignoring that likelihood because they don't want to be put in a position to have to do something about it. That continues to be the status quo. jfrith 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted November 4, 2019 Posted November 4, 2019 Even with hook and line on stockers it wouldn’t surprise me if they were “caught” and taken. I’ve fished behind many stocking trucks over the years.
Gavin Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 I’ve seen them gig trout down there before. The kept the trout/bass separate in a red stream team bag on the front deck. Assume there was a big rock in the bag just in case. Mid 1990’s, I’m sure the tradition continues.

Who in their right mind would risk a wildlife violation for a trout?? I’d rather be caught pilfering catfish from the grocery store. bkbying89 1

A group who has loaded up everything to make a fun gravel bar fish fry happen. Do you think a lack of success with the suckers that evening is gonna put an end to that party? The odds of getting busted for a wildlife violation there on that gravel bar are really REALLY low. snagged in outlet 3 1

Yeah but trout taste as bad as peas. I’ll drink my dinner.😆
fishinwrench Posted November 5, 2019 Posted November 5, 2019 What? And risk a BWI violation ? That'll cost ya way more on court day.
