Her second year hunting. She’s a natural when it comes to shooting but wasn’t sure if she could actually pull the trigger. We had several opportunities and this played out perfectly. I told her that she would take the first deer that gave her the shot and even though it’s not a big one, we were both happy (I think I was more excited than she was) She’s hooked now and wants to wait for a buck next year.  She’s 11, I didn’t get my first deer until I was 16!

Excellent.  Dont sweat the size, she did great.

Congrats on her first deer! They're all trophies!

👍🏻  I think that is an excellent caliber/rifle choice for kids too!

I agree. She is pretty small for her age and it was a big part of the reason i ended buying the 5.56/.223 instead of a .308. With the adjustable stock and very low recoil she shoots it better than I do. She put probably 300+ rounds through it and really had it dialed in. It fits her perfect and she is comfortable shooting it. We started with a red dot sight and limited her to 75 yards. She has already told me she wants a regular scope next year as we had several deer that were out of range for the red dot but she could have probably taken with a scope. Several in the 90-125 yard range. Looks like I get a good excuse to by a scope!
