the catching is still pretty darn good

despite the hurricanes we have been having, have still managed to round them up.  never in the same place though.  still getting them from 40 to 60 depending on the day.  

the shad these bass are eating are very small.  i have been having the best luck on the 1/2 Zinc Spoon, and am fishing it on some 10 lb. test braid that is a 2 lb or smaller diameter.  this is allowing me to fish that spoon in the teeth of the wind and get it down there and the spoon cut up because of not having line drag.

i did take time to snap a couple of pics this afternoon.

Good goin Bo.  I guess I need to move locations and techniques as the Flat and James were unproductive yesterday but I decided that they would eat the Arig or go hungry.

i saw lots of scattered bait 60 ft. deep in the james yesterday.  loaded up and changed lanes.

Donna and I got back up there yesterday around 10:30 AM and fished until 4 PM. Fished between Owl Creek and the mouth of the Kings. Had to be some of the strongest winds I've seen in nearly 20 years of fishing Table Rock.

We managed 18 … a mix of LM, spots and one meanmouth … with some decent keepers but not enough of them. There was absolutely no moving bait bite for us. Had one follow a spinner bait (never a good sign) and another one to slap at it right at the boat. Threw a jerk bait some and never got a sniff on it. All of our fish were caught on a Ned and a 5/16 finesse jig. They were scattered from 5 to 35 feet deep and were caught in little bunches. If you got one bite along a little stretch, you'd usually get 4 or 5. But, you could not get bit going back over it. It was one pass and done.

Everything we caught was on at least a 45-degree bank and steeper. Big rock helped. If you got anywhere near gravel, forget it.

it is hard enough to fish a spoon out in the teeth of that wind, but even more so fishing a jig.  donna had better give you some big hugs for keeping the boat where it needed to be.  darn good day of catching given the conditions.

Echoes for the catching, Wednesday was a mix of everything Jigs,cranks,a-rig. 10 keepers. All came off channel swings.  Saturday: everything was on cranks, majority of the fish were hooked outside of the mouth on top of the head. Flater stuff w/gravel and on points. When you got bites you would get 2-3 on a point. G-finese gamis stick em. 9 keepers total. Alot of moving around but it was easier to cover water w/wind at your back! Campbell pt- Mouth of white/Kings.

Good job finding a winding bite Saturday. As stated earlier, just wasn't happening for us. Had to drag, drag and drag some more to get bit. 

This thread is a good example of the beauty of Table Rock … three totally different ways of catching fish from the bank out to 60 feet --- all on the same day.

I tell him all the time, "Thank you, Mr. Guide."  I'm a true guide client.  I like yanking on them.  Take me where they are and set me up where I can get to them and I'm a happy camper.
