I see it as a fishing show more than as a competitive event.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head Jeff. They made that pretty clear in the few days I had spent with them. No negative feelings about it. I just decided that it wouldn't be something I would enjoy, or be interested in. The great thing about retirement. I can pick and choose the things I do in life. Not other people.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???B)

Did you decide not to be a ref?

Yea, After I got a good look at the big picture. I really didn't feel that either one of us was what the other was looking for. Again nothing negative about it.  Just a choice based on several things...

The show was interesting, I expected those guys to target spotted bass, but it was mostly flipping cover or throwing topwaters on the bank for largemouth.  Another show this Saturday.

I haven't watched it yet.  Seems like they got away from showing techniques to just swinging fish onto the deck...  Sometimes they seem to hide the lure they are using.  I watch fishing to pick up tips and techniques.

Maybe they heard you, they did show what they were fishing for the most part.  But I hear you on the fish swinging, it gets to be too much at times.  I record it myself, one of the reason is that I can fast forward through the commercials and some of the repetitive fish swinging stuff.

They give a pretty good look at the buzz frog deal that was working well on the top water fish.

I liked that they showed Randall Tharp's 4 rod setup up close during their General Tire anywhere is possible shpeel. Usually they don't give you very much detail unless it is one of the Major league lessons episodes or the winner of the day's number 1 bait.

I saw what seemed to be a good amount of fish caught on a regular jerkbait which surprised me for summer months. Anyone know if that's what David Walker was using in the first round? It seemed to be a white jerkbait that he was throwing on spinning gear to me.

Also I'm not sure about you guys but my DVR was showing it as a new episode but they keep showing the description as being in Shreveport Louisiana instead of the actual location when they air the cups. I am on Dish.....for now anyways, thinking about dropping them.
