kjackson Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I've fished out of Venice half a dozen times and am going back in March and probably again in October. When a bull redfish hits, it's like being shocked with 120. They are incredibly strong...and I've been out for tuna three times. The first two were OK, but the last one had me moaning. We got into blackfin near a shrimp boat, and after catching two on spinning gear and a Rat-L-Trap, I was worn out. Then I thought I'd try one more cast and hooked the largest black of the trip. I've always gone with a group, but this time I'm staying an extra day and getting a guide to show me some areas that I can access for trout and reds that will work for my boat.

We enjoyed south Texas while we were there but the summer heat can be brutal. It was like 9 months of heat and 3 months of cooler weather. Also got tired of worrying about hurricanes and tropical storms. We closed on our house in Corpus 1 week before hurricane Harvey hit. We enjoy the seasonal weather up here. snagged in outlet 3 1
oneshot Posted January 18, 2020 Author Posted January 18, 2020 I have considered moving back to Louisiana for some Gulf Fishing but my wife says stay where we are and we are getting too old. I actually had everything for my Charter but like I say at the last minute Arthritis put me down. We had everything paid ahead even places to stay. oneshot

I have pictures of me out hunting in the mountains completely covered with snow. I forgot to add because I’m on Blood Thinners I can’t take Anti Inflammatories for my Arthritis just more Pain Medication. oneshot

snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 The high the next couple days is 20 degrees and lows single digits. 70’s in Fort Myers. You can have the 20’s. I’ll think I’ll be a snow bird in retirement. Leave after Christmas and I’ll See you in March. fishinwrench 1
fishinwrench Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Winters seem to be getting milder in these parts. I don't mind it so much when we have these 3-4 day periods in the 50's+ to break up the monotony. I haven't experienced any cabin fever yet this winter.
Gavin Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Saltwater fishing is a great change of pace. Always do a couple 1/2 day inshore flyfishing trips when we visit the coast. Usually $500 per day plus tip.
