Members lmt-outfitters Posted January 22, 2020 Members Posted January 22, 2020 Where is a good place around stockton lake to get minnows and do they have any size to them. Every time I try to buy any (around clinton) they r so small I can't believe people can get them on a hook. terryj1024 1
zarraspook Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 I'm not sure the size you are looking for but, Bait Master's at 215/123 has always give me a very generous count on the minnows... dozen = 15-20... straw hat 1 "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
Targa98 Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 I stop in Greenfield at "crossroads" just because it's on my way. They (normally) have 2 sizes. I believe the price is fair but only thing I dont like is usually they count the darn things out which drives my crazy. I'm used to asking for a dozen and getting a scoop. But it's the only place I know of on MY way to the lake.
Members audiochem Posted January 22, 2020 Members Posted January 22, 2020 Depending on the time of year, the minnows can run small. Has anyone every tried two minnows on the same hook? terryj1024 1
liphunter Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Everything I use or can think of is on the south side of the lake. I use Bait Masters mostly and am happy with Crossroads. There is one between Bona and Mutton Creek. Not a big fan of. But size always seems to vary. Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???
Members ifionlyhadabrain Posted January 23, 2020 Members Posted January 23, 2020 New little store opened last year called “The Bait Shop”15680 S 39 hwy Stockton, Mo. Nice folks who just scoop. Not sure about the size. Wondering if this is where the statement “it’s how you use it comes from”? terryj1024 1
Members lmt-outfitters Posted January 23, 2020 Author Members Posted January 23, 2020 Hey guys thanks for all the info. Much appreciated.
terryj1024 Posted January 23, 2020 Posted January 23, 2020 Glad to hear I'm not the only one that hates those little dinky minnows. I think Greenfield has the best size, But you guys are right they literally count them out. I'm always gotten pretty decent minnows from Lakys On the East Side of the Lake.
Walleyedmike Posted January 24, 2020 Posted January 24, 2020 I haven't been down in a while to verify, but I believe Stone Creek Lodge will have minnows. They are on the west side of the mile long bridge on 215. God launches near there at Hartley and State Park. Can inquire at 417-276-1700. Go get 'em! WM
