Bgctrading Posted March 25, 2021 Author Posted March 25, 2021 I'm heading down tommorow hopefully they have moved in. Any suggestions where to start and work up from?
wily Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 I don’t go above 10c so I’d start within a couple hundred yards of the power line
Bgctrading Posted March 26, 2021 Author Posted March 26, 2021 It was pretty tough we caught a dozen 50/50 split between males and females evenly scattered from power lines to above 10 bridge One really nice bonus hybrid. A lot of people we talked to only either had one or two or none.we could only get bites trolling we never could get it by casting. BilletHead 1
curtisce Posted March 28, 2021 Posted March 28, 2021 Went saturday, put in before 7:00 a hiway 10. What a mess, covered with soft mud except where the trucks and trailers had squished it away. The ramp is more useable if more of it in the water. Lots of company today. Counted 14 boats on one section. Water color is a bit off but not bad 1 ft of viz. Some small debris in the water. WT 54. Took my prop boat up as far as I could. Caught one nice male along a current seam thought it would continue but it didn't. Saw boats pulling in an occasional fish, many were dinks. Lots of moving around. Abandoned the upper part went down by the floating docks. saw fish on LS but no bites. Think they were gar. Left around 2. One fellow I talked to said they did well the last hour and half before dark on friday. Had a big full moon last night too. ollie Posted March 29, 2021 Posted March 29, 2021 I went down Saturday morning as well, but waded at the shoals above the bridge. Not much was going on there either. Would see someone catch one and then wait for a while another one would catch one. It was slow for sure. I only caught one dink so there you go. I would think this week would be really good unless it rains hard or we have cooler temps. Who know with the crazy white bass! lol "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
ollie Posted March 31, 2021 Posted March 31, 2021 I went yesterday after work since I knew it was going to get cooler later in the week. Didn't do great, but did manage 3 over 15" in about 2 hours of fishing. Caught five total with the other two being smaller males. I would say one of those was about 16-17". Put up a good fight as well since I just had my trout rod out because dummy me didn't notice I hadn't put line on my other spinning rod! duh! The water was still cold and after 2 hours I was getting cold! Nobody was really catching anything gang busters though. I waded above the 10c bridge and saw some caught, but again nothing really to speak of. Give it another week and it will be on fire or at least I would think so. Caught mine on rooster tails in white and then on chartreuse. I noticed the only others catching fish were using small curly grubs in chartreuse as well. wily Posted April 3, 2021 Posted April 3, 2021 We went tonight after work...caught a dozen white bass and one crappie. Water was 57 degrees crappie we’re close to the power line...and better white bass were above the piers. We were casting chartreuse swimming minnows BilletHead and ollie 2
wily Posted April 4, 2021 Posted April 4, 2021 Went back again this evening. We kept 20 total...should make a good mess of fish for the youngest birthday. caught em all casting jigs in a 100 yard section of the river above the piers. Probably could’ve done as good or better than we did on any section of the river...but I like it up there on the gravel. lot of trollers out...saw a guy catch a 20 pound spoonbill on a a shad rap...pulled him all over the river but they were able to land it. ollie and BilletHead 2
ollie Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 Happy face there! I'm going to try and get down there after work this week if I can. Too good of an opportunity not to pass up this week!
