I did not.. not in the budget for this year.. Have enough hose a wand and an elevated imact sprinker that I can get just about anywhere my plots are. I'm gonna pick up one of the HOSS planters next year unless I come across a planet jr 300/300a on craigs list for a decent price. I have Rogue hoes out the wazoo... so Im good with the whole manual process..Kinda nice to dig my toes into the dirt and do it old school. BTW yes I know my tiller aint old school...but I aint stupid either... (If you ask me..dont ask my wife that question...she'll give you an unvarnished answer) wily 1
N9BOW Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 This is kind of a sweet little dealy bob concept - http://www.ferrisfarm.net/polyplanterJr.html but its made of plastic and that aint gonna last especially where you attach the handles.....make it in the USA with USA steel and I might consider this one... I think my garden and american manufacturers deserve as much.

That thing turns it into beautiful tilled soul in one pass. Rock can get a little tricky but I have plenty and am used to digging them out when they get hunt up. I used to plant double rows of corn in one garden, made a big deep furrow going boh ways. Planted on both sides on the high part and then utilized the ditch of put a hose down in running slow and flood irrigate it every couole days, sometimes needed a bnotched board to make it back up and soak in properly. Worked especially well with the canteloupes I used to grow, loved them thinga, think they were called Ambrosia, old time, thin rind and super sweet/musky. I looked into mounting a tiller on my little Yanmar tractor last year. Crazy expensive so I gave up on that idea. I seem to remember Ambrosia cantaloupes. Good ones.
wily Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 I don’t think I’m going to do the drip this year either...I got one of those music stand/tripod type sprinklers...and the set the hose down the row like mopanfisher said...should be good enuf i got my planter today...wife didn’t seem impressed so that was probably a mistake...5 dollar corn style but I did get my book...she reluctantly smiled when I showed it to her I’ve made 3 passes tonight...going to Hit the watermelon patch before it gets dark.... I’ve started tilling with the blades going forward...My tiller jumps quite a bit when the tines are spinning forward but seems to be doing a good job...hopefully the more I do it...the less it will jump dogs sure like running thru the fresh dirt Terrierman, N9BOW, BilletHead and 1 other 4
wily Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 I tilled in some peat moss and 13-13-13 this morning tiller has smoothed out in forward spin...but definitely harder on the elbow...feel like I have tennis elbow Hoping it starts raining pretty soon...so that will keep me from messing with it

N9BOW Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 Decided to name my plots... the raised beds are the “South Farthing” the big sweet corn plot is “Rivendell” the plot just above is “Bagshot Row” that’s the zuccini plot And maybe some Mellon and the two Northern plots are “Goblin Town” The winter squash and pumpkins and “High Pass” - my Indian corn And my Deck overlooking it all (well most of it) is the "Great watch Tower of Amun Sul" - AKA Weathertop
