Kayak for my 11 year old son?

Landen is wanting a kayak this year and curious what some of you might recomend for an 11 year old?  Gonna start out on our little lake at the cabin and when he gets better try the southfork or something similar easier to navigate.   I have an original jackson coosa and have loved it so far, thinking he might need something little more stable?

Youngins are a little more agile than us aged folks.  A 10 foot boat may do him well, or a 12' boat if a bigger boy.

My last 2 boats have been simple boats from Academy.  10' Heritage Angler is a pretty good boat.  Lightweight, fast sporty hull for moving water, and stable design.  Has plenty of storage and comes in a 12' model too, I think.  Grandkid loves it and can paddle it well since he was 8.

The Lifetime SOT’s are great kid boats. My 10 yr old is small so she still fits her 8’. 12 year old is 5’ 3” and needs a bigger boat. Likely getting a 12’ Perception Pescador for her B Day. She can float that as an adult.

My son has the Tamarack 100 from Walmart.  Its 10' and he likes it.  He can stand on it, he has to work hard to flip it.  He can also flip it back over by himself in deep water.   No real good time on water with current to give a review as far as handling.
