Fished Sunday all day I too tried the deep bite with a swimmer, but after 2.5 hours with 2 bites I headed shallow.   Caught a dozen on a spinner with 5 keepers, one at 6 lb on my scale.   Caught all of them out of bushes running it right over the top. And watching everyone one of them eat it.   I will tell you this whether it was the ticket or not,  but I was throwing a 3/4 oz. With a huge willow on it.   Threw a couple other different kinds and sizes but that was the one they would just clobber.  Threw a copper blade.  WT 55- 57. Sorry about the pic best I could do.

Wow! I don't even think my local shop carries a 3/4 oz spinner. You must have been fishing that with some speed to keep it out of the bushes. Great job, a bite like that makes up for a slow morning.

Well, Fish ruined that idea with that tremendous fish, burning a big blade over shallow cover.  Sounds more like Lake O. but there have been posts on the Bull Shoals forum of guys doing the same thing.

Great Fish by the way Fish.

Bill, on these staging fish would you ever throw a 6xd or other deep crank to them like you would post spawn?  I've never done that this early in the year, but it sort of makes sense to sit on those runouts and wind that big crank with a slow reel.
