aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 21, 2020 Author Posted April 21, 2020 Everything seemed right inside there unless you see somthing i dont. I guess ill try a new fuel filter tomorrow even though the one on there is only a few months old
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 21, 2020 Author Posted April 21, 2020 Just to make sure i have the right parts 2004 Xr6 OT947291 This is the diaphram kit i put in it 857005A1 And this is the primer bulb 8m0061876 I did take the fuel line off just now from the pump and put a jug on the floor and gave it a couple pumps and it had a good gas stream flowing without pumping
fishinwrench Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Is it just the pic (reflection) or is the diaphragm all stretched out?
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 i think just the reflection, it seemed pretty tight fishinwrench 1
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted May 9, 2020 Author Posted May 9, 2020 Do any parts look like they are missing from that fuel pump? I took it took a shop near me because i keep having the same issue and, the mechanic very arrogantly asked who had been in there working on it because it was missing parts. I have been the only one, and i was hoping i made a simple mistake and it would be good. He put another new diaphragm kit in it, not the brand new mercury kit I told him was in the glove box. Went to the lake the next day and guess what....same exact problems, nothing has changed. Im just a little confused, If i left parts out would it have ran 20 miles with no problems the day after i rebuilt it? I think it may be something with my pick up tube in the tank. But i can only get it so far out and the filter or whatever is on the end wont fit through the hole. Its a flexible hose so how do i know its ever actually sitting on the bottom
fishinwrench Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 You have to remove the fuel guage sender and work through that hole. But here's the deal.....If you can siphon freely from the fuel supply line, then all is well with the pickup tube assembly. By "siphon freely" I don't mean that you can squeeze the bulb and squirt fuel out.....I mean that once fuel starts coming out it WILL KEEP COMING OUT as long as the end of the hose is below the fuel level in the tank.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted May 10, 2020 Author Posted May 10, 2020 I tried and cant see anything through that hole its like 2.5 inches. The sender is in the middle and the pick up hose is way over on the starboard side. sender hole and pick up hole are 2 feet apart. It definitely will siphon freely, i drained a gallon out down by the lower unit..
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted May 10, 2020 Author Posted May 10, 2020 I cant repeat the problem on muffs or the place that worked on it has a pond they back into, it only becomes a problem later in the day. IT starts perfect in the morning and from spot to spot fires right up, always in the afternoon when it happens

I hate them SOMETIMES 😅 Other times I can look things over, do a few tests, make a simple adjustment, and it never happens again. Yours, from how you've described it, sure sounds like a fuel delivery issue.....but fuel delivery issues don't ordinarily care what time of day it is. They can care how much fuel is in the tank though (pin hole or crack in the pickup tube), and there may be a pattern there that relates to the level of fuel in the tank.

Well how the hell do you suppose they put the screen on the end of the pickup tube? 🤔 Beg, borrow, or steal a remote 6 gal. tank and run it on THAT for a day to see if it still happens.
