Targa98 Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 First off it turned out to be amazing weather for us on Sunday. Launched at daylight at mutton creek and fished most of the day. Early bite and later afternoon bite was pretty Ok. not good but i've had worse. We fished from Googer to birch branch and about everything in between. Started early fishing shallow banks around brush with Road Runnger Jigs and got on a pretty good crappie and walleye bite that soon died off. We did not catch them as i was expecting but in my opinion they are def not on the banks yet. We switched gears and began to pull #5 & #6 flicker shads to cover some depths and ground and basically went into search mode. Most of what I saw was schools in 20+ feet with fish suspended in the column between 12-18. We caught a few doing this as well. All in all I was a little disappointed but it was my first time ive really got to get out this spring. We finished with 12 crappie, 4 walleye, and about 10 Whites. Again, I've had much worse days but I enjoyed every minute out on the water. Here is a pic of what I caught and brought home for the freezer. I left my co worker the whites as they are just NOT for me. Personal Preference. nomolites, GRANDPA TATER, straw hat and 5 others 8
Dutch Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Nice looking bunch of fish. I am going to Cedar Ridge today looking for specs. I hope that I can do as well.
olfishead Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 Thanks for the report. They seem really reluctant to move into the shallows and may never this year. I found exactly the same Monday in the same area.
liphunter Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Went to Cedar Ridge yesterday. Got there a little late. Had and enjoyable day on the water. Haven't seen Stockton that busy in a long time. Looking for fish on the shallow. Caught quite a few but all except for a 15" smallie and a 15" LM. Everything else was under that. Work a Kietech for a while without much luck and tried a couple of different spinner baits. No joy there. Getting desperate, whipped out the ned and game on. Even caught a 16.5" wally. The bite kind of died down around noon. So I went to working on crappie at a spot where I knew they spawned. After about 4 cast hooked up with a slab and lost it at the boat. I thought, here we go. Never got another bite. Seen water temps fro 57 to 63. Mostly Stockton clear every where I went. Weather was just perfect. I really needed that!!! Nothing really picture worthy. But I never grow tired of that bite! No matter the size. Rootman 1 Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???
Dutch Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Stockton treated me like a step child. I got the next to the last parking spot. I fished for specs for a while. No love. Moved to High Point and got a few bass on Rock Krawlers. Moved to Turkey creek and drug Flicker Shad. Had a few bites and 3 hookups in 18 fow. Water temps were 59° and 60°. Loading was a Zoo. It only takes 2 who don’t know how to do it to mess up the whole thing and they were there at the same time. liphunter 1

We have been working 10 hour days through all of this and I am ready for some time off. Its a 4th of July weekend every day at the lake right now. That is not much fun.
Targa98 Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 I understand every part of the lake is different but I was the 3rd boat to the ramp at 6 on Sunday morning and never saw another boat until 10 am where I was fishing at. After that yes it got fairly busy in a few places but was by no means anything like an average weekday on table rock. I took out around 6 pm also and did not have to wait on anybody either. I too have been working full days straight though, thankfully, but with kids also if I am lucky enough to be able to have a day alone to get on the water so I will fight that crowd if needed and still Love every second of it.
3DHUSKER Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 I imagine I am at that boat ramp all the time. Not sure it really exists. Is it made with concrete or creak gravel? 🙃
olfishead Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 Mutton Creek and Ruark Bluff ramps have been a real circus almost every day for the last two weeks. Except when it's raining, must be a shortage of raincoats! I hear Greenfield Access is even worse. 3DHUSKER 1
Targa98 Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 I'd say it was bc it was starting to rain and then disappeared so maybe most people were waiting. It was def concrete. Lol I put in at mutton creek with no issues at all. But like I said. It was raining at 6 when we put in. I made a short run and didnt have a boat within a half mile of me till at least 10. Rain was over by 7.
