Fished from 0600 until noon.  There was a topwater bite early, caught a few on a 4" Yozuri pencil popper, scattered fish chasing shad, didn't see any schooling activity.  Had a drought after the topwater bite tailed off, caught one here and there, but nothing consistent and had a stretch where I bet I had 10 bites and only boated 2 of them - this was on a 3.8 Keitech swimming it off the bank out into 20 FOW.

Keitech bite picked up a bit later in the morning until I left at noon.  They got active chasing shad, again they were scattered, but if you could get on them they would bite.  Finished the day with a couple of smallmouth that were right up on a gravel bank with a stiff wind blowing in.

Caught 20 bass,  9 or 10 keepers, but no large keepers, biggest was a 17" largemouth.

Gizzard shad are spawning, had some chasing the Keitech, they'd tap it sometimes but just couldn't get it.

For what it’s worth we pretty much stunk it up yesterday. Caught about fifteen total with only three keepers in around five hours.

Focused on shallow stuff for the most part  but it just wasn’t working for us. Primarily tossed Ned and Keitech with very limited success. Caught a nice spot on a bubblegum Fluke and eventually threw spinnerbait and some top water as well as jigs.

Nada.

Moved a touch deeper and caught a few more but mostly little ten to twelve inch dinks on Ned and Keitech.

At least it’s been pretty easy to keep the beer cold.

Ain’t venturing out there today. To paraphrase Mr. Babler, “We just ain’t that mad at ‘em.”

Unfortunately tomorrow looks even worse.

I blame myself....🤦‍♂️

Gotta slow down. Stupid Smallmouth Syndrome hit them today, although the squall around 330pm finally pushed our button. Had a really solid day.

Unfortunately, “Stupid Vernon” syndrome trumps pretty much everything else.

If you were out there this afternoon you deserved to catch ‘em.

I kinda remember being around your age when I was determined and had metabolism and didn’t freeze to death whenever it got below 60!

It's going to be much better Wed and Thur!

Ehhh... sounds like thunder boomers for late in the week. Wife and some church friends are going to Branson. Hope they didn't plan to picnic.
