Hello out there! I am looking for a good concentration of gars, either longnose, spotted or shortnose. I'm talking the water running thick with them. I'm doing some research with rope flies for a chapter in a fish book, would really appreciate any info. You can email me directly if you don't want to give the spot away. I promise I won't leak it. mspitzer@uca.edu. Thanks, Mark Spitzer

I see lots of them at Pom north of Nemo on the west side in the great big flat cove.  Don’t throw them back.

Lots of them around the mouth of Galmey cove on Pomme too

Between Big M and Shell Knob on Table Rock there's plenty of them and have yet to see anyone targeting them.  Pretty easy to find in the summer and early fall as they'll school up and be swirling around on top.

The easiest thing to do bar none will be to put a set of lights on a boat and head out looking for them after dark or get with bowfishermen they will know where to look.

Just about every time I fish at Beaver for striper I have some gar chasing my lures. Many times floating the Kings in the summer I have seen large concentrations.

Your email address is uca, if that's UCA in Conway, then you really don't need to get out of your back yard.  Backwaters of the AR River is where I'd go.
