That is great BF Scott!! I got a place on Pomme and hardly ever fish there. I go over to Truman to chase hybrids and crappie and drive over to Stockton to chase smallies and walleyes. Pomme has a reputation as not being a very good bass lake. Or at least a big bass lake. Your post is very encouraging!! I only had about 2-3 hrs to fish about a month ago and had a pretty good time. Caught 6 bass, 3 keepers with one going about 5 lbs. Maybe I should stick closer to home!! Thanks for reporting! Notice i didnt ask what you were using???? :)

When did that happen? I don't fish it like I used to but in the 90's it was amazing. Still didn't get the attention the other lakes got but those in the know had a good time.

Went there one time Bass was chasing Shad. Used a Spinner caught the crap out of them.

Need to get over there but it has been so hot and I have to go to Springfield nine more times. Then got to see couple more Doctors.

SSteve,

Actually the bass fishing has improved over the years. We used to fish 83 Marina tournaments where it took 10 fish limit to weigh 20lbs but now it’s 5 the weigh 20-26 or more. Back then you could go down the bank with just about anything and catch fish but now you have to work a bit more at it. Not saying that you can’t catch plenty of bass on the lake. The fish have changed a lot in the last 15 years. Fishing pressure has increased but I think just the boating pressure has a lot to do with fish behavior. I mean if someone rocks your house day after day you wouldn’t stay shallow either. I’ve never seen so many boats on pomme. It’s a mad house out there on the weekend!!!

Ok maybe it is just me but I enjoy the Lindley Arm seems it gets less Boat Traffic and plenty brush piles for fish.

Back when the local fish wrap, the KC Star, ran tournament results i would check and winning weights were around 7 lbs. Big fish would be 2-3 lbs. Now, that was several years ago as the Star has gotten rid of those results along with a lot of other stuff. I am extremely happy to hear you claim that Pomme is getting better and better. And the boat traffic this year has been unreal. I am retired so i fish during the week. Last time i was there it looked like a holiday weekend on wed!! Went to BassPro last week and the shelves were practically empty! I ask a guy if it was because of shipping issues due to Covid? He said, "no, we just are just overwhelmed with customers this year. Cant keep up." Claimed they have not had any kayak's on hand for two weeks. Boat sales thru the roof. We gotta get all these working stiffs back to work!! And thanks for the Lindley info Oneshot. I need to try that arm of the lake.

Pomme seems to go through cycles on bass, it will be good for a few years then get tough and oly small bass then pick up again.  With the high water years it should be good for a while.  A few years ago some guys throwing A rigs were absolutely hammering 5 and 6 pounder which was not common at that time.  The last time i went out with the MDC crew shocking fish (quite a cew years ago now) one of the thi gs they wanted was bass over 3 lbs or something like that and they were few and far betweem, lots if little ones but few in the larger range at that time.   Truman is another lake that at one time was an unbelievable bass fishery but doesn't have the reputation any more, crappie, white/hybrids, catfish and aome walleye.  Seems like when crappie fishing it isn't unusual to catch what should be a big old bass but they are skinny and have giant heads like some one bass do, no clue why.

Interesting info MoPanfisher. Years ago a lot of the locals felt like the crappie fishing was bad because of the muskie. I think that theory has been proven wrong. Your point about a lot of high water makes a lot of sense. Bottom line is I am extremely happy that the bass fishing seems to be pretty good right now. Good to see some reports on the Pomme on here. Usually far and few between.

I used to fish all of those when Gene & Charlene owned the marina.
