I was a regular at Shanks wade and shoot before the floods killed the pin oaks; spent many a day on Mark Twain when the lake was filling (literally for years)when we couldn’t draw in the poor man’s line.  I don’t miss the early wake ups but I do miss the fellowship.  Like TM, I could bring them in when I was where they wanted to be...and that is 90% of successful waterfowl hunting.

Shanks was sooooo fun! Right before shooting time there were so many ducks quacking it sounded like a constant low roar. Flood of ‘93 killed a bunch of acorn producing trees...the place suffered for a long while.

Hunted Shanks last year, 2nd day of season and stunk it up. Shot several coots. Coulda shot allot more coots.

Yes I do have some pink flamingos! Buddy Mark says you need to set them @ 80 yards in front of other hunting parties! Flares em like crazy!
