rumrunner Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 I tried to search to no avail. The chart shows 35 megawatts all day Sat and Sun. Is that to much to wade? The way I understand it that is less than half of one unit.

Always have a way to back out. Good luck. Let us know how you do if you goLet us know how you do if you go rumrunner 1
Gavin Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Tailwaters can be great, but......can screw a wade fisher in a hurry. Hire one of Phil's guys to take you out for a trip and show you the ropes. Daryk Campbell Sr and rumrunner 2
rumrunner Posted September 5, 2020 Author Posted September 5, 2020 Thanks for the replies. I may just take the boat or yak and be ready for anything. I've been a few times but it's either been shut off or at least a couple of units.
Gavin Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 Made the mistake of floating the Norfork Tailwater at full generation in a solo canoe once. I'm a good paddler, but I'm never doing that again. Consequences are to high if you dump. Forget your boat and stuff, just get to the bank and survive. Proceed with a walk of shame.
jdmidwest Posted September 6, 2020 Posted September 6, 2020 I did it in the inflatable pontoon one time. Tom Hargrove dumped me in and moved my truck down to the confluence. They kicked up both generators about a mile down. Sit most of it out on the bank, then it peaked and I went on thru. Pretty fast ride. rumrunner Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 what amazes me is I was down there in my bass boat when they were running all 4 units. The kayakers were everywhere. This was about 5 weeks ago. To me it wouldn't be fun to just zip on down the lake. I'm not sure if they are even aware of generation. You really couldn't run because of other boats drift fishing and the kayakers out in the middle. One girl deliberately got in the way of boat traffic and then flipped boat drivers off. It was nuts. I kinda wanna try it at 35 tomorrow just for the experience.
Gavin Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 Was that the trip were they shaved the cat at Quarry Park? Have some depraved friends.
Seth Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 You can wade along bank from cable down to at least boat ramp. I have a jet boat and was able to boat around up to the cable with ease a few days ago. Blake was up there with a 2070 and a prop motor and had no problems. It was just enough water to keep waders near the bank so you didnt have to worry about coming up on them in the middle of the river. snagged in outlet 3 and rumrunner 2

Never heard that one. Back in mid 90's. He was down for fall tying convention and camped next to me. Introduced me to Little Yeoman, had to make trips out to get some that year. There was a group that second nite so anything could have happened. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
