One thing to keep in mind is if this is the original style shawnee it has quite a bit of rocker built into it and the boat will NEVER go fast. I had a similarly built JS 42" wide bottom many years ago and I wanted more speed so I put a 25hp(prop) on in place of my 9.9. I netted 2mph gained and way worse fuel economy. Exactly. It's not like it's going to get up on pad.....

The old style river boats are really displacement style hulls, meaning they dont really plane out as much as just go. snagged in outlet 3 1 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 4, 2021 Posted January 4, 2021 BTW it was not very maneuverable in tight quarters.
Members GotaFish Posted January 4, 2021 Author Members Posted January 4, 2021 Thanks for all of the advice, I am not looking to go fast, just trying to get up the river to float back down and fish. gotmuddy 1

I see 25hp jets often on faceplace for under 2k, but I suspect those days are about gone. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 everything in this post is purely opinion and is said to annoy you.

I probably won't be river fishing till late Feb. or early March though. I live across from Tonka Cove and typically run upstream from there. If the river is flowing well I've made it to the pool below Lake Niangua dam. snagged in outlet 3 1
