That is sorta like the way I used to do it after my comes by wrench started a new job.  I think anyone with the tech can make a video.  They aren’t all the same quality.

No, cuz then y'all will be all like......"Oh Boy, Here goes Wrench acting like he knows EVERYTHING" 🙄

Honestly though, you're better off just not changing your gear lube at all....then doing what that cat just did.    You really didn't notice anything wrong with that job ?    🤔

Nope.  But I’ve never done it or seen the manual on how to do it.  Top it off from the top vent when done??

#1. Goof:. He removed the vent screw before the drain screw.   Doing that doesn't allow you to inspect the first thing that comes oozing out of the bottom of the gearcase.  Instead it just comes squirting out all at once and you can't tell what has settled in the bottom.

#2 Goof:. Using that thin blue Mercury lube in an Evinrude is a no-no. It won't hurt the gears but Evinrude's have different shift shaft seals that require different lube...or else they will fail prematurely.  You can use Evinrude lube in a Merc, but not Merc lube in an Evinrude.

#3 Goof:. It's best to replace the drain screw gaskets, but if you don't at least tighten them up better than he did.  Evinrude's have the hex key drain screws for a reason...so you can put a wrench on it and crank that sucker down tight enough to compress the stiff nylon gasket and stay put.  He just snugged it up half-assed like you would the lid on a tube of toothpaste.   That ain't worth a crap!!!

Yep.  I totally agree.  I did notice the wrong oil but didn’t know it was a deal.  I also noticed the old washers and the screw reversal.  That is just another good reason to let those who know how to do it...do it.
