FWIW my wife hates when I use physics to explain something she’s emotional about Not my rules but physics always work unless emotion is involved. 

That's my hull shape on a "flat bottom" Blazer jet....  And on all Blazers as far as I know.

I had a new neighbor move into the house across the street from us in Corpus. He and his wife went boat shopping and bought real pretty 20 foot non tunnel hull rig. He was not catching many fish so I took him out in my boat and we caught a bunch of reds. Next day he takes his wife to the area we fished and I get call that he is stranded in a foot of water shortly after he got out of the main canal. I  went out and towed him back to the canal.

Soon after he traded the pretty non tunnel hull boat for a tunnel hull. He took a pretty big $$$ hickie on the trade, so I guess you are correct that boat dealers make lots of money on these deals.

Everybody’s going to get stuck sometime including you… There’s so many factors to that story

The point is that you are going to very limited as to where you can fish in the Laguna Madre without a tunnel. Also this is an example of a tunnel hull running shallower than a non tunnel which was what this thread morphed in to.

I just got off the phone with the owner and founder of the most well known Jet Boat dealer in our area of the state. I’ve purchased both of my boats from him. He’s been a jet boat dealer since 1972. 
I asked him “will a tunnel hull run shallower than a flat bottom”...his answer is “No it will not, I won’t refuse to build one if someone asks, but I would not recommend it, nor will the jet motor manufacturers”.....

dimensions on your tunnel look almost identical to mine.  mine is 3ft long, 3 inches tall.

Once again most of this discussion has been about prop driven rigs. Remember all of Wrench's measurements and calculations on prop sizes, skegs and water intakes?

A properly designed tunnel, combined with a slight V bottom hull can greatly enhance jet boat performance. It should raise the motor 2-3 inches and place the heel of the jet intake flush or slightly above the bottom of the boat. A jet tunnel doesn’t work well with a flat bottom boat due to air ingestion. If I have the choice of my hull scraping gravel or my shoe I will let the hull do it every time, so I will keep running a tunnel.
