Wt 57-60

Got out a few times. Fished from shore twice. Caught one almost keeper walleye on a Shakey head, and some small bass. Those bigger fish I was catching have not wanted to play. I'm guessing it's due to the alage bloom? Water is red where I was catching some and it was very hard to get bit there.  Water dropping maybe? Lack of rain run off ? Probably all of the above 😆

Next couple times I went I took the boat. First day was ok. Forgot the batteries for my electronics so that made it impossible to see what depth I needed to be focused on. I just tried to guess, and we all know how that doesn't work most of the time. Caught some small Kentuckys and lm on grubs half way back in coves on the NW side out  away from the bank shallow suspended. Couldn't buy a bite in the bushes, or on the bottom with anything. Just a weird day. No carp or shad activity whatsoever. I don't think I saw a single fish jump or make a splash for hours.

Next trip, I remembered the batteries, but the electronics wouldn't turn on!  Darnit, how the heck to do you find brush piles and crappie in 15+ fow without electronics! So, I fiddled with the wiring, determined it was faulty batteries.  Managed to find a handful of big black crappie ,but without eyes underwater it was difficult.  Once I actually found a deep brush pile I hung my jig in it on purpose, reached up and cut my line ,and attached a bobber to it to use as a marker buoy and It worked!

As warm as the water it getting I'm surprised to find these crappie still way offshore and deep. I  tried fishing near the bank dipping crappie  jigs in 1-9' and never got a bite.

Another week and things will be different.😉
