Woke up and surprised it wasnt raining so i decided to run down and hope in the Wednsday Cape Tourney.  I ran up the river a little way around and up from Bridgeport.  Caught a 3.5 quick on a Chappo. The shad were spawning like crazy so i started throwing a sexy dog. Had lot of blow ups but they just werent getting the walking bait for some reason. I did have a snake bee line to my top water and i couldnt get him away from it before he got hooked.

Ended up finding a 100 yard stretch that i was getting bit on a jig almost every cast. filled out my limit there including a 4.23. Couldnt replicate that bite anywhere.  Lost a big one on a flutter spoon under a dock but he got me hung in some crappie habitat hanging off the dock.  Water temp 66-68. Last hour or so it rained pretty hard.  Managed 4 fish for 12.38 i think. (4 fish limit)

That’s a good day. Congratulations! I am not into snakes much but I don’t think that kind will hurt you, but not sure.

Did you free the snake and get the topwater back?

I tried but that thing was turning back and biting at the bait and was just mad,  I didnt really want to openly invite him in the boat.  I cut the line and let him have the bait. Kinda felt bad but im no snake expert and didnt know what kind it was.

Wow, nice 4 fish limit. That's the way to put em in the boat. Congrats.

Thanks BIll, it was a good time, none of my fish were in more than 3-4 feet of water. I was laughing because i caught them on the Jig i found in a bush a couple weeks ago in MIll creek area. Not sure what kind it is but seem to be the ticket.

Yeah, would have done the same thing. We have encountered more of those snakes then normal this year. Some have been really aggressive.
