Lvn2Fish Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 Hey guys ! I’m looking to plan a week long kayak fishing vacation up north . Hopefully jumping lakes across Michigan’s UP and Wisconsin , or travel across Minnesota hitting different lakes . I’m assuming most of the small lakes in either location will have fish . Also I assume either state that the lakes are for public use . I’m looking for input of anyone who has done a tour like this . How did it go ? Did you explore out of a home base location fishing lakes close , or did you drive a line through the state staying at different inns ? Lastly what would be the best time of year to do this kind of thing . I would very much prefer to do it when the skeeters are not killing us . But not sure what the fishing is like up there in the fall .
fshndoug Posted July 4, 2021 Posted July 4, 2021 you better fish through the ice if you want to escape skeeters in Wisconsin Lvn2Fish 1
Gavin Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 The UP is some rugged country.. Chased some brook trout up there in the footsteps of Hemingway. Pond/lake fishing is hit or miss. Probably best around ice out. Smallmouth & walleye tend to be deep in the fall. River fishing is usually more reliable. snagged in outlet 3 1
DADAKOTA Posted July 6, 2021 Posted July 6, 2021 My Dad used to take us up to the UP every year when school got out. For years we fished brookies in the Fence river and its tributaries around Republic, MI. Also used to go into a small lake known as Just lake. Caught a 26 inch brookie out of there. Then we went around Gladstone and Rapid River area and fished the primarily the East Branch of the Whitefish. Also caught a bunch of walleye out of Little Bay De Noc. Lvn2Fish and BilletHead 2
