Everyone I know loved the XP rods.  Why discontinue such a popular model?

I've never owned one but I've casted them, and they are about as perfect as a fly rod can be IMO

If they could still be bought with a warranty I'd own 3-4 of them. But back when they could be bought new my pockets weren't deep enough.🙄

When I sold my 7 wt 2 piece XP,  fw inquired about it. I was sure hoping that he would buy it. He will be sad to know that a guy bought it for his son. The son broke 3 inches off the tip before they got to fish it. I later sold a Z axis. It was a little on the wimpy side. I still have my favorite of all, a 5 wt 8 foot XP. I bought that one in 2000 and it still looks good and fishes great like it always did. XP is fast and strong a perfect rod for sight fishing.

Sad indeed.   I really wanted that for a White Bass rod.   I don't know why though because GOOD LORD !     Like I need another 7wt. 🙄

I currently have six 7wt.rods, and I love them all.

This fiberglass example is very close to representing the weight designation it was given from the factory :

The B corresponds to the second run or batch of these that was constructed.

I have a 8' 5wt. that I built on a Kennedy Fisher blank years ago.    If I was to enter a casting accuracy competition that would be the rod I'd reach for.     Because of that I gave it to my daughter, and she does great with it.
