Members snkrohn Posted February 28, 2022 Members Posted February 28, 2022 I have a 1199 with a sticky "Exit" switch. Humminbird has no interest in servicing the unit. I think that it's just a matter of cleaning (and maybe lubing) the switch but I can find no information on the "negatives" of opening up the case. Experience anyone? Final thought. Anyone have any experience with any organization that does out of warranty repair work on Humminbird gear? Thanks, help would be appreciated. Hate to toss out a perfectly good piece of equipment over a fifty cent switch.
Dutch Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 You might give Clear Cast a call. https://www.google.com/search?gs_ssp=eJzj4tVP1zc0TM8oMsgtMrUwYLRSNaiwME9OM09OSjRMMjUxtjA2tjKoSDJOtUxLMko2TDQyMExLtfASTM5JTSxSSE4sLlHITSzKzEsFAAGGFfk&q=clear+cast+marine&rlz=1C9BKJA_enUS855US855&oq=clear+cast+marine&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j46i175i199i512j0i512.14402j0j7&hl=en-US&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8
Members snkrohn Posted February 28, 2022 Author Members Posted February 28, 2022 I googled Clear Cast but only came up with an epoxy resin. Any more info? Thanks
cheesemaster Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 I would call Marine Repair in Springfield. They have a good reputation from the people I talk with. I think they work on just about anything - but I could be wrong. Definitely worth a call.

Dutch Posted February 28, 2022 Posted February 28, 2022 I’d be surprised if Scott would take that on.
bobby b. Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 If you can't find anyone willing to work on it or the price to do so is higher than you want to pay, you could try opening it and depending on where it is "sticking" you could spray it with electronic cleaner and then blow it out with canned air - both available on line - maybe at Walmart.

You can save shipping cost by dropping it off at there Sunshine Street facility, they fixed a screen that had delaminated and fell out on a Helix 9. No issues or problems. Good people to deal with and had a quick turn around.
