Any guidance for late June camping at Paddy Creek Wilderness Area Campground will be appreciated.

* Family Appropriate ?

* Can I drive in a sedan (from Licking - via highways N and AF) ?

* Likely to be full mid-week ?

Many Thanks

40 years ago, you could drive a sedan to Paddy Creek.

Was family appropriate back then.

Camp Ground was never more than 1/2 full.

The Bad:

I have never seen so many skunks in one place.  Sat on the picnic table one night and counted 17 skunks in less than 2 hours walk right through our campsite.  Do not camp near anybody that has a dog!!

A program called "Outward Bound" was operating at the time.  Took Juvenile Delinquents out to hike in the woods.  Little bastards went into everyones cooler and stole food.

Hate to say this, but if you are hiking, carry some personal protection.  Was out Moral hunting last weekend and came across a Methhead that was making meth someplace in the woods.  I stood still and he walked  by me at 40 yards and did not see me, but he had a bowie knife on his hip.  First time I have seen one in the woods, but I have come across the lab sites more than a few times.

You can walk to the  piney river in 10 to 15 minutes.

It's in the middle of nowhere, and very rustic. Lane Spring is very nice in comparison and rarely crowded, I cant imagine Paddy Creek ever getting crowded but you never know. There seems to be a ton of junkies in the Rolla/St. Robert area so take precautions.

Thats the truth, i was walking out of the Salem Hospital one early morning after working and a crazy lady pulled up to the ER scratching all over her body and asked if we had anything in there for fleas. She said she had fleas, and then sped off. Im guessing she was on the good homemade stuff
