I know they have to have their life jackets on when the big motor is running, but my question is do they have to have their kill switch hooked up. VanDam twice has failed to rehook  his switch while running on plane.

I don’t know the rules on this.

And maybe he is using some kind of switch that doesn’t hook to his life jacket.

Just watched Salzman take the lead - striper (didn't count of course), smallmouth, then a largemouth.  But they then cut to commercial, grrrr....

Some (myself included) use a wrist lanyard. Just run your hand through it as you reach for the ignition switch.

And yep.....I forget more than I wanna admit.

Wrist lanyard is not a bad idea, but I've been clipping onto my life vest for so long that it would be hard to break an old habit.

Salzman won, young guy, and I think this is his first year on the tour.

Just a 5 minute penalty.

Rule #38

KVD should have had at least 1 then, maybe two as twice he put his jacket on and walked to the front to strap rods and didn’t rehook prior to firing up and taking off. His official missed both.

That is a very good point an a very good possibility. Mike mentioned he had heard of that device but didn’t know if anyone was using it

If anyone has it, it would be KVD.  Inquiring  minds would like to know.

Great post  thanks for the info.
