Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 22, 2022 Root Admin Posted June 22, 2022 We drove highway 75 over Eufaula yesterday and today (back and forth to Texas). I counted 3 boats and a jetski yesterday and one boat today. It's about 13 miles to get clear through the lake... could not believe I didn't see more boats. Drove over 86 bridge today. I couldn't get a count... lots of boats. gwh, MarkG52 and dpitt 3
Quillback Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Last job I had to periodically drive down to Plano and back. HWY 59 (I think it is 59) which swings by and over the lake. Never did see a lot of boats on that lake and I also wondered why. I have heard that it is a good crappie lake but not so good for bass.
rps Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Eufaula covers the juncture of the Canadian River and the North Canadian River. The North flows through Oklahoma City. The main branch runs down around Norman. The rivers originate and flow through red dirt country. Much of the time they are near empty. Other times they try their best to put all that red dirt into the lake. It is a typical flatland, muddy colored lake and was a prolific bass producer during the 80's. Bright colors and sound were/are the key to catching bass on that lake. It remains a great crappie and white bass lake. I would bet some who know it well still catch good bass. I have not fished it since the 80's and see no reason to go back. Quillback 1

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 25, 2022 Author Root Admin Posted June 25, 2022 The north side is red mud. The south side is much clearer, at least right now.
Quillback Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 I remember the red color. I saw a lot of flooded brush, looked like great habitat for big old slab crappie.
Ketchup Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Been driving to Texas and back almost 30 years, multiple trips a year “born there and siblings all live there”. Travel down 69/75 and over the Red River at Texoma. I see trucks at the ramps on Eufaula most trips, yet rarely see a boat on the water. Lots of areas you can’t see from the highway, but it does get fished due to the trucks/trailers i see at the ramps. Phil Lilley 1 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 30, 2022 Author Root Admin Posted June 30, 2022 I'm sure it gets fished... I guess I was referring to pleasure boats. I just came across the dam at Table Rock - too many boats to count. If you're cruising on Eufaula, you got the lake to yourself!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 30, 2022 Author Root Admin Posted June 30, 2022 Yep- my family is from Denison and we moved to Parsons when I was 3. So we traveled that corridor many, many times. I remember the first KFC in Muskogee when it opened... that was a must-stop for us. And the azalea festival in the spring.
Ketchup Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 Haha. My brother lives in Denison next to the Chevrolet dealership, sister lives in Sherman, brother lives in Pottsboro. We were all born in Sherman at TMC, grew up in Pottsboro on Texoma. Spent many nights below the dam catching stripers. Largest was when i was 14, in a 14’ jon boat with my older brother. We would net the shad that came over the dam, run up to the cable as close to the gates as you could get, and drift back til you hooked up. Usually less than a minute, then repeat. Biggest for me weighed 21 pounds. Biggie for a 14 year old. Took 20 minutes to land it. Still remember like it was today. Be back there in August. rps, FishnDave, grizwilson and 2 others 5 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
