Johnsfolly Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 https://www.sacbee.com/news/nation-world/national/article268782502.html Seems like Colorado's Waterdog lake is the spot for giant brook trout with two record breaking fish caught in such a short time. For me seeing big brook trout in their non-native range is a challenge. However, I would love to catch one over 2 or 3 pounds and would be extatic to catch one near the size of these beasts😁 Hawg and FishnDave 2
Terrierman Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Good cool story from the guy who caught it. Sounds like not a fluke deal for him. Johnsfolly 1

podum Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 The area is Lake City CO (1.5 hours south of Gunnison). Great fishing all around that area - remote with lots of public lands. Waterdog Lake is a helluva hike at altitude. Starting around town at 8400 and hiking several miles up to 10000ish. Not much danger of overfishing pressure. It is beautiful. There are several lakes like it in that valley. Lots of big native cutthroats in those high mountain lakes as well. Gavin and BilletHead 2 I wish I had more time more than I wish I had more money.
