Got out both days from the crack of 11:00 until late afternoon fishing from Viney to the Kings. We have company so I have to rein myself in a little. 😁 Caught 12 on Saturday (all Spots) with 4 barely keepers. Ned and swinghead. 10 yesterday (Spots), no keeps, same baits. Bluffs and bluff ends. Couldn't get anything going in the creeks. Probably just me. Water temps 52-58. I was surprised to see 57-58 late afternoon in a couple of the northside creeks. The dirty water plume reached Emerald Beach yesterday afternoon.

How long does it usually take for the Upper White to begin to clear?

That area has been tough.  I know a good fisherman that has tried the back of the creek thing around there and it has not had much luck with it.  I'm somewhat tied into the grapevine of some folks that fish that area, and no one is killing them.  I have seen some pics of some nice fish being caught, but you've got to work for them and you won't get a lot of bites.

With all that being said, there's probably someone spanking the bass in that area.  Seems like someone always does.

I wasn’t catching any there. Most boats I seen out didn’t stay in spots very long. I assume they had a tough go also. But you know what they say about assuming.

I fished from Viola public launch up toward main lake on Sunday. I only caught 4 dinks...all spots. Those fish were along chunk rock, steeper banks or bluffs. They were in probably 6-18ft of water. Water Temps were in the low 50's. I caught them on Rock Crawler. I talked to a guy that was fishing deeper...15-30ft of water and using jigging spoon and A-rig. He was catching largemouth and had several keepers. I saw fish on my graph but did not bring tackle or rigs to fish those techniques.  It was the same on Saturday out of Big M. Fished the dirtier water...not totally mud...caught all spots. Fish were kinda spread out...and managed to catch several fat, short spots on a spinnerbait in the bushes and some on crankbaits a bit deeper out. Saw fish in deeper water...but didn't bring gear to catch those. I was in my yak and thought those fish may have been more shallow. Saw several crappie schools in the 10-20ft zone too on both days. I am likely going crappie fishing this weekend out of my boat. Maybe try to find some walleye too. The pic is of one of those lil chunks from Saturday. Probably caught 3 or 3 like that in addition to some smaller fish. I think I had 7 or 8 total on Sat.20230325_081901.jpg

There was lots of debris in water. Made it tough to fish in some areas...impossible in many areas to throw a faster moving bait. This pic was from Kings arm toward main lake after launching at Viola Public Use area. The ramp had a ton of debris and courtesy dock was probably 8ft or more from dry land.

A lot of wood out there, what a mess.  The lake level is now dropping, the mystery is in how long the Corps will keep spilling water.

Every summer/fall a lot of wood gets burned from property owners cleaning up the wood that floated in.  Going to be some burning going on this year too.  Might be a run on hot dogs and marshmallows in the local stores this summer.  😃
