Steve McBasser Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Ron and I decided to go up on the main lake at Stockton yesterday hoping for a pre spawn bass bite. I'm sure somebody caught 'em yesterday, but it wasn't us. We got very few bites and only got a handful into the boat. I know the guys running up the river have been doing well but we were hoping for some bigger fish. For us, it was tough.....Water temp was 47* on the main lake and as much as 54* in some isolated pockets. Caught my fish on the blade bait again. Ron caught his on a Lucky Craft jerk bait. straw hat, grizwilson, Quillback and 1 other 3 1
Dutch Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 It has been a tough bite for me all winter. I hope to get back Sunday. If I do I will definitely be headed up the Big Sac.
straw hat Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Just a note for you Dutch. The wife and I fished the Greenfield area on Wed. Soooo many boats. There were times we could see 15 boats from where we were fishing. The water was not too dingy with about 2 ft visibility. The surface temps were around 55, at 5 ft it was 54 and at 7 ft it was 49. I hope that info helps you. Caught 4 keeper crappie. Didn't see a lot being caught but I am sure someone had some success. grizwilson 1
Dutch Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Thanks for the info Straw Hat. I’m sure they will be everywhere. I’ve seen twice as many as normal on the north end this year.
Steve McBasser Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 We only saw three or four other boats all day up on the main lake. After several hours with no biters we should have run up river. We may try it again next week. We have some warm weather coming in the next few days. Hopefully it will get them on the move again.
curtisce Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Been up Turnback twice last week. Found whites and a few walleye each time in the slow deeper water. Plan on being somewhere Monday wtr dogs 1 The answer may not lie at the bottom of a glass, but you should always check
