jdmidwest
Phone woke me up a 3:45 am this morning, Tornado on ground heading my way. It broke up about 10 miles away. It was on the ground from Castor River to a little town called Scopus. It tore up Grassy and Glen Allen outside of Marble Hill. 5 dead and many injured. Skipped over my Sis's house, went north of Dad in nursing home, and broke up before me. Pretty bad. https://www.kfvs12.com/2023/04/05/tornado-damage-reported-bollinger-county/ "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. ColdWaterFshr
Very tragic and scary, especially for that time of night. My 2 girls at school at SEMO, not far away, were woken by the sirens in their dorm at 4 a.m. They didn't do much other than complain about the piercing noise of the sirens. I can only hope they now understand the seriousness and their random luck for not taking it more serious. Daryk Campbell Sr
fishinwrench
Yep, make sure your home owners (or renters) insurance is paid up during tornado season ! I used to think that people living in mobile homes along tornado alley were CRAZY. But I can tell you from experience that it would have been WAY EASIER to just bulldoze the site clean and move a new double-wides onto the spot. 👍 That $#!t of having to rebuild an entire house and shop was a friggin nightmare. There were times when I honestly wished that I had just died in the darn thing.

oneshot 1
Glad you are safe. Called my Daughter because my Niece is going to College down there. Found out she has competition in Texas, where she is now. My wife got a call be in the office in 10 minutes. I was surprised I didn't know she was gone until I checked her Bedroom. Guess they didn't like me being Weather Chief after only one. It wasn't matter of me not knowing my Job it was Jealousy. oneshot
oneshot 1
My wife said she might have to work this Saturday because some of the others might be deployed down there and she might be deployed next week. She told me what that Tornado did. Really unheard of staying in place for so long. oneshot
jdmidwest
NWS Reports EF2, 130mph winds, 150 yard wide path. 22.3 mile path. 27 minute duration. I drove it out today. Went out to the farm after work with the wife. Pretty wicked. There were some places it looked like it may have been 2 funnels on ground near Grassy. It lifted somewhat in places. But it came down hard in the little creek valley that runs thru Glen Allen and started really grinding. Snapping trees off at the base of the trunk. I have a co worker who has family at the start of it in Grassy, his 90+ uncle was wakened by a big oak tree dumping into his bedroom. Both did not get injured and there it was mostly flattening trees. It topped the hill and ground buildings up pretty bad. Then lifted some until Glen Allen. After Glen Allen, goes thru areas that are only serviced by gravel roads then came back out in Scopus area and did some heavy building damage there. I think it broke up after that. Still out of power out there most places, but cleanup was coming along. We ate supper in Marble Hill at Jay's BBQ where they were treating the cleanup workers to free meals. oneshot 1
My wife said it sat for 15 minutes in town. We dealt with the one that took out Stockton. Glad you're safe usually I'm watching them on Radar at work. And I know what they can do. I'm thinking that is in our area we're over SE Missouri but it is right on the line. oneshot
