Dutch Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Monday Spoonie and I had some business to take care of and we combined it with a fishing trip. He picked me up at Cape in really thick fog. We hung around until it was clear enough to motor. We found mostly small fish and they were partial to the ZinkerZ. Keepers were few and far between. It was a beautiful spring day. Today Jeff met me at Cape Fair (without fog) and we fished some of the same areas which produced on Monday. The size was smaller. Jeff won the day with the first and smallest bass. I nearly beat him with smallest but mine came unbuttoned right at the boat. The best bait was a swim bait. Today was a total blue bird sky. It was a privilege to spend a couple of mornings with two really great guys. nomolites, magicwormman, Macsimus and 3 others 6
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 I was down there Monday and Tuesday. I had a couple 8 year olds with me so we mainly bobber fished for crappie and caught plenty. I did pick up a crank and caught 5-6 in no time at all. Also went back in a pocket and saw a couple beds and even caught a couple on a wacky worm. I assume they were the bed fish but they were kinda hard to see, water was a little dingy where i was. Quillback 1
Quillback Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Sure had a fun time fishing with Dutch. He's been fishing this lake since the beginning and I enjoy asking him about the "good old days". What a great day as far as weather! It's hard to beat a day without a cloud in the sky and 70's temps. Love fishing on a day like this, even the drive home was good, redbuds and dogwoods are blooming, the Ozarks are beautiful this time of year. Macsimus, dtrs5kprs and waterpossum 3

So the James is clearing up some? Or were you in Flat? I don’t think I have seen any water from Cape down that is clear enough to see a bed.
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 I was up flat which is very clear but the beds i saw were around Bridgeport. I drove all the way to McCords Bend and it is extremely clear up there. Today i put in at Mill creek and the green slime make it so hard to fish. I went from Mill to Hideaway today and around Hideaway there are logs everywhere out in the channel. Beds are everywhere around Mill creek Water was 62 Quillback and magicwormman 2
