Macsimus Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 Well, it's some consolation to hear I wasn't the only one struggling yesterday, let alone Mr. Bill. I'm fishing the same area and had me a fine time Thursday. I like to do a little litmus test when I detect the bite is off so I hit a small pocket where I caught some fish Thursday morning including 18" and 17" LMs. Nary a sniff. New day, new lake. I think this lake may have a little multiple personality disorder. She/"they" can certainly be sparing with her/their charms at times. 🙂 In the end, it was two beautiful weather days on the water and not in the great frozen North and I am blessed to be here. "There was a time that I didn't fish, but I cannot remember it."
Bill Babler Posted April 15, 2023 Author Posted April 15, 2023 Just got off the phone with one of the locals. They had about 70 fish with 28 solid keeps Thursday. Yesterday from 0600 till Noon they had 5 fish, 3 of them were walleye, 2 on a Ned and one on a swimmer. At Noon said the fish moved up and flooded the bank. From noon to dark thirty they said it was a total slugfest. Pairs on bed everywhere and staging fish galore. We quit too early. Afternoons are the best right now. They saw 72 degree water in the backs of the pockets right before dark. Quillback 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

I’m using an Aaron Martin 4/0 wide gap. I’ve also used a wide gap screw lock with either a belly weight or plain hook with a weight pushed into the bait. Probably best way is the wide gap 4/0 fine wire as you can get. Put the fluke on over the eye of the hook and run a tooth pick thru it and the eye with a pinch of glue. Put your little pencil weight in the bait and when it breaks put another one on. That last MLF I think all 80 guys using a floating worm/ soft jerk bait. were doing it different. Couple of them were using a O-ring like a senko. I don’t like the way it acts with the O ring. One guy had a treble hook on both the bottom and top. I throw mine right in the mess so I’d hang up with that rig. You still miss a ton of fish on that type of deal. I’m usually one out of 3 but I did a little better the other day cause they were eating it. Probably get a better answer from other members. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/BKK_Titan_Rider_Hook/descpage-BKKTR.html I think I'll try this in a 4/0
Bill Babler Posted April 15, 2023 Author Posted April 15, 2023 That looks pretty good. Thanks for posting. Fallguy 1 http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

But I keep expecting that our plastic baits will fool bass every time. Some days I fish vicariously through the guys posting caught fish. It eases my disappointment. lol Mike crazy4fishin 1
