One of the Elite Fisherman had a bass cough up a blue back today that weighed 1.5 pounds. 

16 bags over 20 pounds 

Without a doubt the best lake in the USA Today   

Still bed fishing there.  Also topwater and glide bait post spawners

I would love to fish a lake like this someday. Can't imagine. Anywhere where there is a legit chance to catch a double digit bass would be awesome...... Maybe someday.

Mark Menendez said without a doubt Best lake he has ever fished. He has fished it over 40 years and said it’s better every year. 

Blue Back Herring, both Gizzard and Threadfin Shad, Crappie and Bluegill, not to mention crayfish. 

Said during the MLF derby that some local team derby’s it took as much as 30 pounds to win and middle 20’s to get a check.  5 fish. 

Doesn’t seem like a lot of double digits Steve but a total butt load of 4 to 8 pounders. 

It’s 900 miles over there from Shell Knob, that’s a ride. 

Im sure it’s worth taking.

Yep, awesome fishery. Can someone tell me how you can call yourself "Elite Series" when you are yanking these giant fish off their spawning beds and putting them in the livewell? That is setting the wrong example in a day and age when it's just not necessary to drag them around like that. Millions upon millions of genetically superior eggs/fry being wiped out so Mercer can annoy the world with his g-g-g-g-GIANT BASS crap. Sad that the folks who are supposed to be leading the way in our sport are setting this example.

Both Mercer and Chris Jones are terrible. I believe Jones is even worse. 

And you’re right, you just no longer need to bring these fish to the stage. 

However that being said they have been doing that on Murry for the last 30 years plus all the local derby’s and it’s better every year. Just unreal.

I have to agree on Chris Jones ... he is awful, and he's insanely irritating.

I also agree that this derby probably will have little impact on Murray ... it's just a total fish factory. BUT (yeah, here comes the big BUT) ... it sets the precedent that yanking bass off their beds is OK, and very few lakes can withstand that pressure year after year. I don't think there's any doubt that tournament fishing pressure has hurt Table Rock, Beaver and perhaps even Grand Lake in our immediate area. 

Ray Scott led the parade for catch and release years ago. Sure, they bed fished. But they had legitimate concern for conservation. Today's BASS ownership should follow suit, but that would require getting the $$$$ out of their eyes long enough to see the big picture.
