Daryk Campbell Sr Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 I gave an honest try on 3 streamers from the winter fly swap. I was not successful. I tried @Ham's Seagar minnow, @BilletHead 's minnow?, and @budman 's wooly bugger variation? Sorry I could not remember all the names of the flies. I hooked up with Ham's with a sunfish but it got off. I had chases with the other two, but no takers. I tried in a local creek, there are bass but it is pretty well pressured in this small area I can access. I did have sucess with a goofy fly I tied. San Juan style worm with hackle wrapped around it. And a micro pink marabou tuft. tjm, FishnDave, BilletHead and 3 others 6 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. tjm Posted July 10, 2023 Posted July 10, 2023 I don't know if it's a "rule" but I think that I've done better with streamers in my creeks in evenings, 30 minutes before sundown to about midnight at this time of year. I kinda like to make a big commotion with them too, plop them down with a splash and disturb some water on the retrieve. I usually fish them near the top too, but my experience is kinda limited to these Neosho bass. Back east, in the ponds with mostly bucktails, I'd wade out and cast parallel to the bank right at the edge of the weed beds and use a fast strip retrieve in any low light condition, there it was LMB and chain pickerel.
