Daryk Campbell Sr Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Just playing around this was created. Unfortunately I foul hooked what I believe to be a common shiner. Correct me if I'm wrong. 16 hook (I believe) olive marabou, yellow micro chenille, red micro thread. Non weighted, although I think my next will be. Will add photos later. Site blocking me. trythisonemv 1 Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. Ham Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I’d LOVE a Common Shiner. Striped Shiner is all I have access to. trythisonemv 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Ham Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 That’s not a common shiner. It looks like a Notropis species. FishMap.org would help you know what swims there. tjm Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I was not aware of FishMap.org, do they list all possible species for a watershed by geography, or only those reported to there?
Ham Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 On FishMap you can search by watershed name or click a point on a map. as I stated, it is not 100% accurate as I have caught fish that I was certain of the ID and they are not listed in that watershed. tjm 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. jdmidwest Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Looks like a good carp fly. Bluegill should be busting it. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
tjm Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 Yeah, you said not 100%, and I can see them not listing one if it hasn't been reported, even if it's common, but I asked if they listed only reported species because they list a lot more species in this ditch than I was aware of, and it made me wonder how they got the list. Nice resource at any rate.
