I just keep thinking about this.  For anything other than camp cooking I think an enameled Dutch Oven is the way to go.  You can cook anything in it without worrying about seasoning or reacting with chili or anything else that's acidic.

Agree. My enameled Dutch oven is my favorite piece of cookware. It's got some cracks and chips, but not a problem yet. When its time comes, I'll get another for sure, but probably won't pay up for a Staub or Le Creuset.

Some really nice stuff being made. Those Smitheys are sure beautiful. Google is onto me because those ads are showing up everywhere for me now.

But, I gotta say I like the Lancaster the best. It's got that cool buggy on the back. :D

     A couple pieces found there but it's got nuts. Go to the goodwill auction site and type in cast iron. Everybody knows it's there and bids go high. I think I have three pieces I bought there I really wanted. Just about as bad as eBay.

Yes had a nice one handed down to us from Aunt. It's going to be the last though if it goes south which won't the way we treat it. I have enough carbon seasoning built up in my vintage ones I can cook anything now. All you have to do is use the uncoated ones and build up.

Sadly, I've been cooking for the last several years in a red LaTramontina (Chinese for enameled cast iron) Dutch Oven that came from Wal Mart.  The worst part about it is how nice it is to cook in.  In fact I brined and then cooked some sweet corn in it today for our brunch.
